Wheel Alignment

If you’re driving and your car seems to pull you in one direction, you probably need to have your wheel alignment checked. Improper wheel alignment affects your vehicle’s handling and steering, which may cause you to lose control on the road. To maintain precise control, your car’s wheels need to be in contact with the road, and that’s where proper wheel alignment comes in.

Whether your vehicle has a conventional suspension system with shock absorbers or a strut-based system often seen in front-wheel drive cars, your local NAPA AUTOPRO service centre has the know-how to diagnose and repair any problem.

Windshield Wipers

Most of our driving decisions are based on what we see, and wipers are essential to your road vision. They are a safety system and need to be replaced before they fail. When your wipers aren’t functioning properly, the streaks and glare they cause can significantly impair your vision. That’s why it’s important that you replace your windshield wipers before they fail, rather than afterwards.

For increased safety and optimum visibility in rainy, snowy, foggy or icy conditions, be sure to replace your wiper blades at least once a year, or whenever they begin to streak or “chatter”. Your NAPA AUTOPRO service centre will be more than happy to recommend the wipers that best fit your vehicle and install them for you.

Oil Change

The most important thing you can do to keep your vehicle running for a long time is to change your oil on schedule. Oil eventually turns into a jelly-like sludge over time, which clogs up passages and keeps oil to get from some parts of the engine, causing them to wear out prematurely. Detergents and other additives found in oil also break down over time—degrading its quality and lubrication power—which can then damage engine components.

Your driving habits affect the interval of your oil changes, and your technician can help you establish an oil change schedule that fits your specific needs and help you choose just the right oil as well.

Fuel System Cleaning

Taking care of your fuel system’s various components is essential to your engine’s performance and life expectancy. Firstly, the fuel filter must be replaced or cleaned regularly in order to make sure it’s not clogged, as clogs can cause your engine to sputter.

As fuel circulates through the fuel system, it can cause gum and varnish to build up in your fuel intake system. A professional cleaning will remove the gunk to keep fuel flowing freely and stop contamination from reaching your fuel injectors and your engine. Fuel injectors cost a lot, so allowing them to gum up won’t just hurt your fuel economy, it will cause them to wear out faster than they should. And best of all, keeping your fuel system running smoothly gives you greater performance and fuel economy.

Engine Air Filter

Your vehicle uses over 12,000 litres of air for every litre of fuel you burn. That’s almost 400 litres of air every block! And all that air needs to be filtered to keep your engine clean and your fuel economy good. The Engine Air Filter cleans the air before it’s burned in your engine, filtering out dust, pollution and pollen.

When your filter is dirty, dirt passes through to the engine and can gum up the combustion chamber and impact your engine’s performance, and it can restrict the amount of air that actually gets fed into your engine. Replacing your engine air filter is one of the easiest and least expensive maintenance procedure you can have done. In fact, it might just pay for itself with fuel savings before your next oil change!

Differential

When a car makes a turn, its outside wheels could travel up to 5 feet further than the inside wheels. Compensating for that is your differential’s job. Differential are made strong and meant to last a long time, which is why it’s important to keep it properly lubricated to ensure it lasts as long as possible. The differential fluid is what cools and protects the gears – too little fluid and your differential will run too hot and wear prematurely. That’s why our technicians will make sure that you always have enough fresh fluid.

Differentials do eventually wear out, so if you hear a strange noise coming from the axle area, have it looked at immediately. If you wait too long and it freezes up on you while you’re driving, you could lose control of your vehicle and it could damage you axle, driveshaft and transmission.

Cooling System

Your vehicle’s cooling system is what keeps it at a proper operating temperature. The cooling system consists of two parts: the coolant, and the cooling components. In terms of the coolant, it’s important to have the right amount of it – if you don’t have enough your engine won’t stay cool. You also need the right type of coolant, since different makes require different formulations to protect against corrosion. And finally it needs to be fresh, as a coolant depletes with age and can start to eat away at the parts.

Cooling system components, like your radiator, can also start to leak or become clogged with deposits, and need to be regularly cleaned, repair or replaced in order to avoid costly engine damage. Your technician can make sure you get the right type of coolant for your vehicle, and make sure your cooling system components are functioning optimally.

Cabin Air Filter

Did you know that the air inside your vehicle can actually be up to 6 times more polluted than the air outside? That’s why your Cabin Air Filter is so important, even though most people don’t even know they have one!

Pollen, mold, dust and other pollutants can get trapped inside your vehicle. The Cabin Air Filter stops these pollutants before they even get inside and filters out odours and smoke. It also helps protect your entire heating and air-conditioning system from dust and grime. People who suffer from seasonal allergies really appreciate a clean cabin air filter.
